How the Skilled Worker Visa Salary Threshold Works

Step 1: Cash Floor
Every salary option has a minimum cash floor. For standard applicants (Option A), this is £41,700. New entrants and ISL roles have a reduced floor of £33,400. Health & Care roles under Table 2 start from £25,000.
Step 2: Going Rate
Each SOC 2020 occupation code has a going rate based on ASHE survey data. This rate is pro-rated based on your working hours relative to the reference hours for that occupation (usually 37.5 hours per week).
Step 3: Percentage Adjustment
Depending on the salary option, you may need to meet 100% of the going rate (standard), 90% (non-STEM PhD), 80% (STEM PhD), or 70% (new entrant). The adjusted going rate is the going rate multiplied by this percentage.
Step 4: Required Salary
The salary you must be paid is the higher of the cash floor and the adjusted going rate. Your offered salary must meet or exceed this figure to satisfy the visa requirements.
About Salary Options

Table 1 (General occupations): Options A through E cover most Skilled Worker visa roles. Standard applicants use Option A, while discounts are available for PhD holders (Options B and C), Immigration Salary List roles (Option D), and new entrants (Option E).

Table 2 (Health & Care): Options F through J mirror the Table 1 structure but apply to health and education roles. These have lower cash floors, starting from £25,000 for new entrants and ISL roles.

New Entrant eligibility: You may qualify as a new entrant if you are under 26, a recent UK graduate, switching from a Student or Graduate visa, or undertaking a recognised professional training programme.
